18/06/2012 - Killinghall A Evening League side in Cup Semi Win
Killinghall A beat Sharow last night in the George Greaves Cup Semi Final.

Selecting to bat first, Killinghall were struggling for runs at the half way stage, managing only 35 runs in the first 10 overs. However, great batting from J Cutts (32), G Fish (30) and D Atkinson (26) saw Killinghall to a respectable total of 119 on a wicket that had plenty to offer the bowlers.

In reply, tight bowling from L Clarke (1-13) and A Thompson (4-17) restricted the runs, and backed up by two great catches by T Whitaker kept Sharow behind the rate. First change bowler J Cutts (3-8) finished the innings off in great style claiming his first hat-trick of his short career!! Well played.

The final, at Birstwith on Monday 25th June, is a repeat of last seasons final with Burton Leonard the opponents.

Look forward to seeing you all down there to support the lads.

The team only lost one game all season, the first game of the season, going on to win 10 games in a row in all competitions.

Well done lads!!

19/07/2011 - Killinghall Eve League team win Greaves Cup
On Monday evening at Scotton CC Killinghall's evening league side defeated Burton Leonard B in the George Greaves Cup Final.

Batting first Killinghall made a steady start after the early departure of S Wotherspoon (11), and after 10 overs were 54 for 1. S Williams (20) and S Copley (14) added vital runs, but the main performance of the innings came from G Fish (82 not out) who managed to take the game away from the opposition with a serious of lusty blows and good running. The innings closed with Killinghall posting a challenging 144 for 3 from their 20 overs.

In response the Burton Leonard reply got off to the worst possible start with A Thompson claiming a vital wicket caught behind after a tickle down the leg side. After restricting scoring opportunities the batsmen were always under pressure, especially when G Fish (2 for 5) took two wickets in an over, the second after a spectacular full length diving catch by keeper D Atkinson. Killinghall's bowlers continued to turn the screw and take wickets with skipper S Copley taking 3 wickets for 5 runs in 4 overs at one end and overseas S Wotherspoon taking 3 for 15 at the other. Burton Leonard were bowled all out for 62 in the 15th over.

Killinghall Under 15s ended the regular season unbeaten and top of the North Group.

They now meet Bishop Thornton on Sunday 5th September at Finals day which is held at Studley Royal CC, with the winner facing Beckwithshaw for the League title.

Manager James Crawfurd-Porter commented "The season has gone spectacularly well so far with important contributions from all squad members. The lads are two games away from the title, but we need to stay focussed on the semi final, take one game at a time".

Good luck lads.

29/07/2010 - Killinghall Evening League side promoted
Killinghall's evening league side secured promotion last night after beating Little Ribston by 37 runs in a winner takes all fixture.

With the winner of last nights game taking promotion the pressure was on both teams, on what was a difficult wicket for batting.

After being inserted by the opposition Killinghall lost J Russell (2) early before A Dobby (22) and An Thompson (46) built a solid foundation which was built on by S Copley (21). Wickets continued to fall regularly with no other batsman reaching double figures. The innings closed on a very respectable 119 for 9.

Killinghall's bowlers soon set about defending the target with aplomb. B Crawfurd-porter (1-7) restricting the scoring, with J Jackson (2-5) also bowling a miserly spell. With the required run rate rising rapidly H Ashman (0-16) and An Thompson (1-22) maintained the pressure on the batsman. S Copley (3-19) saw the victory home, restricting Ribston to 82 for 8.

Well played lads.

08/07/2010 - Killinghall 3rd Team Defeated in Cup Final
Killinghall 3rd Teams run to the final of the Peter Bentley Cup ended in dissappointment as they were defeated in the final at South Kilvington.

Posting a total of 83 in 18 overs, thanks largely to 32 not out from skipper Mark Morrell, was always going to be difficult to defend on a small ground.

The run to the final has seen them defeat several teams from the division above, including a nail biting one run victory in the semi final against Ripon. Their focus now switches to the league campaign with the team looking to push on towards promotion in the second half of the season.

07/07/2010 - Under 15s maintain 100% record
Killinghall's Under 15s team maintained their 100% start to the league this season on Sunday and are now unbeaten in 7 games. The team are almost certain of a place in the play off finals to be held on the 5th September at Studley Royal.

Team manager and coach James Crawfurd-Porter commented "The lads have had a terrific start to the season, but we need to maintain our focus for the remaining group games to ensure that come play off finals day we are in prime form".

Good luck lads for the rest of the season.

20/06/2010 - Jamie Hits Out
Congratulations to Jamie Russell on his first hundred for the club, a monster 144!
What makes it more pleasurable for Jamie is that it took his dad until he was well into his late 40's before his first ton, while Jamie is a young twenty something.

17/05/2010 - KCC Golf Day
Many thanks to all who attended the inaugural KCC Golf Day. 13 players attempted to tame the Knaresborough course last Friday with the victorious team, comprising Joss, Jimmy and Rich, amassing 88 points to take the title by a huge margin.

Rumour has it Chris Base is still somewhere on the course, last seen hacking his way through woodland, or thick vegetation. Fair play though, he kept going.

Feedback has been positive and there are plans to hold a second event later in the year.

16/08/2009 - Killinghall 1st XI win Cup
Killinghall 1st XI won the Aktinson Swires Cup by 4 wickets against Pannal at Pateley Bridge to record their 8th success in this competition in the last 11 years.

Fielding first, Killinghall got off to the best possible start with T Durrance (4-26) claiming a wicket with the first ball of the match. Tight bowling backed up by some tight fielding kept the squeeze on Pannal, who found themselves 86-6 just past the midway point in their innings. C Base (2-40) claiming two vital wickets in an over. Misery bowling from M Sweeney, who's figure were 0-13 from 8 overs, frustrated the batsmen while wickets continued to tumble at the other end. The innings finished on 170 all out with skipper R Danby claiming the final wicket.

In reply, Killinghall lost R Danby in the second over, caught behind for 0. However, some lusty blows from J Overend kept the scoreboard ticking whilst M Sweeney was content to play himself in. But once Jos had been caught in the deep, and T Durrance caught at square leg with the score on 30 the match was evenly poised. Worse was to follow when C Base was caught behind and very next ball J Lancaster followed in the same fashion. At 50-5 Killinghall looked up against it. However M Sweeney set about chasing down the total, he just needed someone to stay with him. Support came in the form of A Thomson (24) and D Bentley (33 not out) who saw Killinghall home with two overs to spare.

Mick Sweeney carried his bat for 77 not out which combined with his bowling efforts deserved to be named man of the match.

What made the result all the more special was the fact that Killinghall were missing half their recognised first team and were underdogs coming into the final.

Great effort lads!!

14/07/2009 - Killinghall 2nd XI win Reserve KO
Killinghall 2nd XI won the Reserve KO competition after a tense 3 run win over Sharow 1st XI at West Tanfield.

After winning the toss and batting first Killinghall were indebted to the effort of Nige Pennock (58 not out) who batted through the innings to help Killinghall post a modest total of 103 after 18 overs.

In reply early wickets from M Keith (2-17) and J Lancaster (4-41) restricted the runs and built up the pressure on the batting team, backed up by some excellent wicket keeping and fielding.

With the light fading quickly and a storm brewing on the horizon, J Lancaster took two wickets in the final over to ensure Killinghall wrapped up the victory by three runs. Top effort lads!!!

Scorecard: http://www.nidderdaleleague.co.uk/scorecards/10049/Killinghall_2nd_XI_v_Sharow_1st_XI.htm

The final will be against the victors of the rearranged fixture between Sharow and Blubberhouses at West Tanfield on 14th July at 6.15

08/06/2009 - Killinghall 1st XI win Cup first round
After all three teams had their league matches wiped out by waterlogged pitches on saturday, the 1st XI continued their unbeaten start to the season with a comfortable 8 wkt win over Ripley 1st XI in the cup on sunday.

Batting first Ripley made 153 all out, with M Keith (5 for a lot) the chief destroyer.

In reply Killinghall knocked off the total with 15 overs remaining thanks to the flashing blades of A Thompson (87 not out) and Oversea's M Sweeney (61).

02/06/2009 - Killinghall 2nd XI win in reserve knockout
Killinghall 2nd XI beat Pannal 2nd XI to reach the quarter finals of the Reserve knockout competition.

Batting first, Killinghall set a respectable total of 153-8 thanks largely to 61 from J Lancaster and 35 not out from A Bellerby.

In reply a combination of early wickets, tight bowling and committed fielding restricted Pannal to 137 for 8 with S Copley (3-28), M Keith (2-36), J Lancaster (2-37) and A Thompson (1-22) doing the damage.

Killinghall will now play Division 3 side Ripon 2nds in the next round.

27/05/2009 - Killinghall 2nd XI win in reservce knockout
Killinghall 2nd XI beat division 2 side Pateley Bridge 1st XI in the reserve knockout competition. Batting first, Killinghall amassed 187 in their 16 overs, with J Lancaster (76) and S Copley (40) providing the runs. James will be dissappointed not to convert his second 50 in a week into a bigger score, especially given the manner of the two dismissals.

In reply Pateley fell 16 short of target after M Keith (4-54), J Lancaster (1-50), A Thompson (1-28), and S Copley (1-33) took wickets on a regular basis, backed up by some tidy work in the field.

Killinghall await the winners of the Pannal v Scotton match in the next round.
